Hemp is more often than not considered one of the most useful plants out there, because so much can be made from it. It is also a plant that can be grown quite easily, without the use of pesticides. For a very long time, the production of hemp has been prohibited due to anti-drug legislation and, according to many, also due to an active lobbying effort by the plastics industry. However, the industrial hemp from which clothing is made does not contain the psycho-active component THC. Hemp feels cool on the skin and is very comfortable to wear. In the textile and clothing industry, it is still a rarely used material.
